What is TMJ and what are some options for relief?
What is TMJ?
TMJ is the abbreviation for temporomandibular joints. These are the joints and jaw muscles that allow you to have movement of your mouth, such as opening and closing your mouth. Your TMJ are located on each side of the head, and include muscles and ligaments that work together for tasks like chewing, speaking and swallowing. The lower jaw is also controlled by them for the movements of forward, backward, and side to side. Anytime there is a problem that is preventing the movement of this system it can result in a painful TMJ disorder.

What can be done to help feel relief again?
Located in Franklin, Tennessee at Dr. Lee Palmer's private practice we use a highly precise computer-based system to analyze the patients posture and muscles, which are two things that can cause the discomfort that is felt in the head and neck. The tracking system he uses is completely painless and non-invasive to analyze EMG readings. From using the system here at the office he can create a custom orthotic that generally will give you a harmonious relationship with your upper and lower jaw.
When you aren't having the relief from other treatments, and are experiencing chronic pain in your head, neck, face, or ears, or if there are any questions we can answer, call the office. We would love to help get you back to a relaxed state!
